Cambridge Real Estate Investment Management
Cambridge RE Partners is an affiliate of Cambridge Real Estate Investment Management Holdings Pte. Ltd (“CREIMH”), controlled by Michael Patrick Dwyer, who is also the Executive Chairman of Cambridge RE Partners.
A real estate veteran with more than 35 years of experience in real estate in Singapore and Australia, Michael is particularly knowledgeable in the areas of real estate investment trusts (“REITs”) and private real estate funds. Between 1987 and 2000, he was intimately involved in the Australian REIT industry, having been the joint managing director of a leading mortgage REIT in Australia during that time.
Through that period, he was also involved in numerous unlisted property trusts in Australia, including an A$50m integrated residential project in Robina, Queensland, an A$31m integrated residential project in the Gold Coast, Queensland, an A$200m hotel portfolio in Sydney and Melbourne, a A$25m retirement living project in Robina, Queensland, an A$22m self-storage project in Sydney, an A$22m commercial development in the Gold Coast, Queensland, and an A$15m tertiary campus extension in Canberra.
In 2004, he successfully listed the first independent cross-border REIT in Singapore, Allco REIT, which raised S$500 million on listing, and managed it as its Chief Executive Officer.
In 2006, Michael and his partner, National Australia Bank (“NAB”), acquired Cambridge Real Estate Investment Pte. Ltd. (“CREIM”), and together with Mitsui & Co, gained control over the management of Cambridge REIT, a S$1.65 billion industrial REIT listed in Singapore. In 2017, Michael and NAB sold their stake in CREIM to e-Shang Infinity Cayman Limited (“e-Shang”), which then took control of Cambridge REIT and renamed it ESR-REIT. Michael was able to retain the “Cambridge” brand.
JMD Group
Cambridge RE Partners' co-sponsor is JMD Group (“JMD”), a Singapore-based real estate developer and investor. Founded in 2009, JMD holds a significant real estate development track record in Singapore and Malaysia, and actively invests in real estate globally.
Over the last 13 years, JMD has developed and re-positioned over 14 real estate assets with an aggregate gross floor area of approximately 18 million sq ft in Singapore and Malaysia, with a total gross development value (“GDV”) of over S$3 billion. JMD has also invested, as strategic investor and cornerstone, in real estate portfolios with aggregate value of appxoximately GBP $1 billion in UK and Europe. JMD’s development and management expertise includes residential, commercial, retail and industrial properties.
Notable deals include the S$80m prime office development on Scotts Road, Singapore, a portfolio of 8 conservation shophouses in Singapore with a GDV of about S$150m, two township developments in Johor, Malaysia, with an aggregate GDV of about S$675m and most recently, the divestment of the EUR $520m European logistics portfolio.
